Riluzole in Spinal Cord Injury Study (RISCIS)

Tuesday, September 13, 2016

Globally, a total of 25 study sites have been identified for the RISCIS trial, mainly in USA, of which 21 are open for enrolment.

In Australia, there are four study sites open for enrolment: the Prince of Wales Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital/Royal Rehab (for follow-up only) in NSW and Royal Adelaide Hospital in SA. The John Hunter Hospital in NSW will open for recruitment, possibly in November 2017.

The RISCIS trial has been conducted in accordance with the NHMRC guidelines and the approved protocol.

In addition to the main RISCIS trial, regulatory approvals have been received to conduct the Quality Assurance Project (QAP) sub-study by using data collected for RISCIS and compare with international bench-marks for quality of care in acute spinal cord injury at the Prince of Wales and Royal North Shore Hospitals.
