Adventure or Jester with Spinal Cord Injuries Australia

Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) invites people with spinal cord injury to join them on fun outings in Sydney by becoming “SCIA Adventurers” or “SCIA Jesters,” on various dates in 2013.

Spinal Cord Injury Network supporter SCIA have again made “the impossible possible” by offering two programs for people with spinal cord injury, their family and friends to “…take a break from rehab,” get out there, see interesting places, and enjoy life.

SCIA Education Officer Kelly McCann says, “The idea is to meet new people and experience all that life has to offer. All of the activities have been trialed across a variety of injury levels from T12 right through to C2 and are suitable for everyone.”

The SCIA Adventures 2013 program includes many Sydney explorations, such as; a pizza lunch at the Manly Art Gallery, pancakes at the Rocks, a visit to Taronga Zoo, the Australian National Maritime Museum, Madame Tussaudes, Laser Skirmish and Bowls, iMAX, the Powerhouse Museum, Botanical Gardens, and finally Paddys Market in China Town.

The SCIA Jesters program is also offered to people with spinal cord injury, their family, and friends. It is based in hospitals and designed to offer an entertaining break from rehabilitation.

Both SCIA programs take place once a month and are at little (if any) cost.

“Some events are partially or fully funded for SCIA members and friends, and family members are welcome to attend too. So come along and join the gang at SCIA for some adventures!” says Ms McCann.

Spinal Cord Injuries Australia are long time members and supporters of the Spinal Cord Injury Network.
